EMS Division Chief & Behavioral Health Taskforce Co-Chair Attends Senate Floor Presentation -SCR 170

Kristin Thompson, EMS Division Chief and co-chair of the Behavioral Health Taskforce, attended the California State Senate Floor on May 14, 2026, for the presentation of Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) 170 by Senator Greyson on behalf of CalChiefs and the California fire service.

SCR 170 proclaims May 25–29, 2026, as Firefighter Mental Health Awareness Week in California. The resolution recognizes the unique mental health challenges firefighters face and underscores the importance of raising awareness, reducing stigma, and expanding access to behavioral health resources and support services.

Chief Thompson's leadership through the Behavioral Health Taskforce has helped advance firefighter wellness initiatives across the state. Her attendance at the Senate presentation reflects the ongoing commitment of California's fire service leaders and behavioral health advocates to supporting the mental health and well-being of firefighters and first responders.
