California Launches $70 Million Wildfire Prevention Grant Program

On May 7, Governor Gavin Newsom announced $70 million in funding opportunities for local wildfire prevention and resilience projects across California. Public agencies, nonprofits, tribes, and community organizations working to reduce wildfire risk are encouraged to apply. Funding will support projects focused on protecting communities and strengthening wildfire preparedness, including vegetation management, evacuation route maintenance, fuel reduction, firebreak creation, and other fire prevention efforts in high-risk areas.
