Support State Fire Training – Attend the SB 345 Hearing on June 30

CalChiefs is calling on all uniformed fire service professionals to attend an important legislative hearing on SB 345 on Monday, June 30 at 2:30 PM in Room 444 at the California State Capitol.

SB 345 is a crucial bill that directly impacts State Fire Training (SFT) and the future of our fire service.

Currently, individuals entering the fire service pay up to $1,100 in out-of-pocket fees for certification and testing — fees not covered by financial aid and typically paid without agency sponsorship.

SB 345 would reduce these costs by up to $300 by increasing the State Fire Marshal’s working budget and making SFT more affordable and accessible.

Without this change, volunteer firefighters and prospective recruits are being priced out of the profession.

Please attend in your Class A uniform to show unified support for this bill and the future of our profession. SB 345 is item 2 of 4 and may be placed on consent. Your presence helps ensure our voices are heard, but things may shift quickly.
