The Board of Directors for the California Fire Chiefs Association would like to wish you and your family a very happy holiday and a prosperous New Year. 2023 was a transformational year for CFCA, we focused on the feedback we received from our sections to update how we as an organization do business which included developing the Preferred Vendor Program where we brought on 3AM as our first preferred vendor. We also worked to improve communication within the sections which included a single point of contact from the sections as well as including these section representatives at our 2023 planning meeting. 2023 brought on the development of the California Fire Chiefs Foundation (501c3) in order to further support the California Fire Service through scholarships and other support needed by our members. We also established a for profit subsidiary to further support fire service training and support, Cal Fire Chief Consulting and Training Incorporated which will be spear headed by soon to be retired Fire Chief Ray Gayk. CFCA feels that diversifying revenue streams while also providing a trusted consulting company from your professional organization makes good business sense for the association as a whole. The Board of Directors also strengthened our Association by establishing the Branches which now include the Metro Fire Chiefs, Tribal Fire Chiefs and the Volunteer and Combination Fire Chiefs. This year we lost a significant influence within the California Fire Service, Chief Ronny Coleman and we are thankful that we were fully engaged with him as we altered the Ronny Jack Coleman Fire Chief of the Year program and also added the California Fire Chiefs Association Hall of Fame, which was sponsored by Intterra, adding 82 Fire Chiefs into the inaugural class dating back to 1919. 2024 will be a busy and challenging year as we work hard to adjust our dues structure, implement concepts discussed in our 2023 planning session held in Santa Rosa and work diligently with the California Fire Service legislatively and collectively to ensure that your Board of Directors and Staff leaves it better than we found it. Happy New Year and we wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Sincerely, President Mark Heine, the entire California Fire Chiefs Association Board of Directors, and staff!
