SURVIVING THE FIRE SERVICE
Presented by Chief Todd LeDuc

This dynamic presentation will cover emerging occupational health risks and threats to the fire service. Evolving research will be reviewed for occupational cancer, cardiovascular, and behavioral health. Preventative strategies for human risk reduction and prevention will also be covered. Current advances in early detection will also be thoroughly reviewed. Additionally, the role of sleep hygiene, nutrition, fitness, and other health behaviors are interconnected and will be thoroughly explored.

 Chief Todd LeDuc (Ret), MS, CFO, FIFirE, retired after 34 years in the fire service as executive assistant fire chief of Broward County, Florida, a career metro department of 900 members. He has a master’s degree in executive fire service leadership, is a fellow in the Institute of Fire Engineers, and is a chief fire officer. He is a peer reviewer for agency accreditation and professional designation. He is a Board member of IAFC Safety, Health & Survival Section, and a Technical Committee member of NFPA 1582. Chief LeDuc currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer for Life Scan Wellness Centers, the nation’s largest provider of firefighter physicals.
